Terms of Use

These terms are a contract between you and about your use of Ofemy. Please read them; by creating an account or using a workspace you agree to them.

Last updated:

1. Acceptance

You accept these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy when you tick the box at registration, and again each time you use the service. If you do not agree, do not create an account. You must be at least 16 years old.

2. The service

Ofemy is a web application for tracking the income and expenses of a household or another small group: transactions and categories, recurring templates, bank-statement import, receipt scanning and reports. Features may be added, changed or, with reasonable notice, removed. Some features can be switched off by the platform administrator.

The service is provided free of charge for households. If we ever introduce paid plans, existing users will be told in advance and nothing will be charged without your explicit agreement.

3. Accounts and workspaces

3.1 Your account

Give accurate details, keep your password secret and tell us at once if you suspect misuse. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account.

3.2 Workspaces and roles

A workspace is shared. Everything recorded in a workspace is visible to all of its members according to their role: Owners and Admins manage members, categories and settings; Members add and edit transactions; Viewers can only look. Only invite people you are happy to share that information with, and only invite people who agree to it.

3.3 Owners

The Owner of a workspace is responsible for it: for the accuracy of what the members record, for keeping the member list up to date and for removing members who should no longer have access. Owners can delete a workspace; members can leave one at any time.

3.4 Invitations

Invitations are personal, sent to a specific e-mail address, and expire. By inviting someone you confirm you have a legitimate reason to share the workspace with them.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service for anything unlawful, or to store data you have no right to store;
  • upload malicious files, or try to gain access to accounts, workspaces or systems that are not yours;
  • probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service, or circumvent rate limits and security measures;
  • scrape the service or use automated tools against it other than the features we provide (such as CSV export);
  • resell the service or present it as your own.

5. Your content

The transactions, categories, receipts, statements and other content you put into a workspace remain yours (or the workspace's). You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, process, display and back up that content in order to run the service for you, including sending receipts to the recognition service described in the Privacy Policy when that feature is on.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, in particular receipts and bank statements that concern other people. You can export your transactions as CSV and delete content at any time.

6. Availability and backups

We aim to keep the service available around the clock but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation: maintenance, updates and events outside our control can cause downtime. We keep regular backups for disaster recovery, but they are not a substitute for your own exports. A deleted workspace can be restored by its Owner within 30 days; after that it is gone.

7. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time under Settings → Account. Workspaces you own are deleted with it; workspaces you merely belong to continue without you.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, endangers the service or other users, or has been inactive for a very long time. Except where immediate action is needed to protect the service, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond and to export your data.

8. Disclaimer

Ofemy is a bookkeeping tool, not a financial adviser. Figures, categorisations, suggestions from receipt scanning and bank-import matching can be wrong; check them. We do not give financial, tax or legal advice and the service does not replace an accountant.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law we make no warranties, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data that you could have exported, loss of profit, or decisions you make based on information shown in the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited under the law of Latvia. Nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not, delete your account before they take effect.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Latvia. Disputes are subject to the courts of Latvia, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules and courts of the EU country where you live. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
